About Us

Chinese and Japanese collectibles have always been in great demand and that is no more true than today. With Interior designers prefering to concentrate on the eastern treasures to decorate our homes, more homes than ever are adorned with eastern influences.

From Japanese scrolls to rugs and feng shui figurines, our demand for these products never seems to wane. In these times where we see more and more design programs on the television we seem to be looking to other civilisations for ideas as to what to surround ourselves on a daily basis with.

There is a big difference however, in being a serious collector of fine antique Chinese and Japanese art and wanting to surround ourselves in japanese or Chinese culture. The main differnce is the cost !

We tend to concentrate on what is at the more affordable end of the market rather than the  iconic pieces of art that sell for millions! For instance recently the most expensive piece of Japanese art was auctioned.

The twenty-six inch, gold-painted statue (Right) thought to be sculpted by Kamakura-period (1185–1333) artist Unkei, depicts a seated Dainichi Nyorai sun goddess. While it was expected to sell for less than $3 million at the Christie’s auction where it was sold, the sculpture went for a stunning $14.38 million.

Now that doesn't happen every day but ridiculous prices are being reached in auctions all over the world as these artifacts fall more and more into private hands only to dissapear from public view.

While these events are interesting and can take your breath away, we would like to introduce you to the more reasonable pieces of art and crafts that originate from within the east and China andJapan predominantly.

Of course with the ever increasing interest in Feng shui then it would be amiss of us not to introduce you to some of the concepts that it is based on and the figurines and bowls that are souch an important part of it.

Please take a look around our website and enjoy the articles, feel free to comment and if you wish more information or would like to know about suppliers of items you see then please feel free to contact us. Enjoy your visit.
